Are you asking yourself what canI do on an individual, local, or state level to support breastfeeding? If so, here are some suggestions:
Join the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition (TXBC). The Friday Report (a member benefit) will keep you up-to-date on breastfeeding.
Contact your legislators and ask them to support bills to protect breastfeeding mothers. See Action Alerts for items to support.
Monitor breastfeeding in your community. Did you or a friend/relative have a good or bad experience with your hospital, physician, local businesses, … when breastfeeding? Send them a letter, letting them know about your experience. Give praise or make suggestions on better ways to support breastfeeding mothers.
Support activities on the TXBC Strategic Plan.
Join in on monthly calls.
Attend the TXBC Spring and Fall meetings.
Access the CDC/United States Breastfeeding Committee’s bimonthly State Breastfeeding Coalitions webinars.
