North Texas Area Breastfeeding Coalition had a Mom Prom fundraiser on March 4, 2017. It was a rousing success with 140 guests attending.
Moms Prom is a ladies night out for any female 21 years or older, not just for moms. There was music, dancing, and fun. Light hor d’oeuvres, desserts, and drinks were served. A cash bar was available. Guests wore an old prom dress, bridesmaid dress, or tacky dress, and showed off their decade! Bonus points were given if they could zip it up! Tickets were entered for a door prize. Each guest received a tiara or they could wear their own! All were princesses for the night! There was a “Mom of the Year Award,” tackiest dress contest, silent auction, and much more!
The 2018 Mom Prom will be held on March 3, 2018. This year’s theme is Hollywood Glam!

IBCLC Information Session
Central Texas Breastfeeding Coalition had an IBCLC Information Session on August 12, 2017 . The 4-hour session provided information how to become a lactation consultant. Forty-three people attended the session! The Info Session covered an overview of credentials, reasons to become an IBCLC, barriers to certification, pathway options, clinical hours, and financial information. Each participant received a folder with IBCLE health science requirements and where to take the courses; financial aid information; and where to take lactation-specific courses. The folder also included exam scholarships and tips on how to raise money to attend breastfeeding conferences. For more information, email email@example.com.
